With the advent of the new year, we tend to make new resolutions and break them as well in a few weeks or months. The irony is, we want to change, improve, become happier but somehow cannot retain our motivation levels for a longer period.
This is the scenario I am observing at the family business front when the next-gen is contemplating to join the ongoing business or has recently joined the business. The enthusiasm, motivation, aspirations are at the peak for a while but the reality of accepting commands of family members, being critically watched by the employees, and a lack of guidance or systematic training dampens their enthusiasm.
The motivation to work in the family business goes down and the youngsters start looking for another career.
