During a recent conversation with a mother-daughter duo leading a family business, our topic turned to the "difference in the style of working" between the two generations. 

­Family members not appreciating each other's style of working is a major cause of conflict in family-run businesses. Upbringing, education, experiences, beliefs, and personality traits contribute to different working styles.  

 Millennial daughter was tech savvy, well informed, and quick to make decisions. Mother, having worked in the family business for two decades, had acquired a great deal of experience. She understood the "millennial" mind-set. The transition of the business to the next generation was going smoothly.
