With recent events of the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war, global business environment has drastically changed. The impact is seen on the succession process in family businesses.

 Family businesses are known to be both adaptive and conservative at the same time. I am observing two trends on succession. Some families have accelerated succession process and provided the next generation with the control to handle business complexity. And there are families who have become more conservative and risk-averse. Business sustainability is a priority and succession process is put on hold.    

 Each family has its own culture and business DNA. Prudence lies in taking decisions that are unanimous and long lasting. Transition of power and authority from one to another generation is a painstaking process. Planning and executing Management-Succession process with guidance from experts can ensure business success and longevity.
